I originally contacted Two Bears as a last ditch effort to address my oldest rottweiler Bastian's reactivity to other dogs. He was about 4 years old and all attempts to change his behavior up to that point had been ineffective, if not making it worse. Bastian was in his prime competing in agility and his behavior was limiting my ability to have him in a competition situation. I was at the point of retiring him altogether. Immediately John started working with us, not to avoid the situations, but to give him confidence in the situations, teach him that looking to me for direction was the safest and most appropriate choice as well as teaching him he can relax with other dogs around. He incorporated focus work, basic obedience and relaxation techniques. After working with John I developed my own confidence to have Bastian in the agility ring.

From there I started working with John on competition obedience with both Bastian and my second Rottweiler Tessa. His methods made this work fun for both the dogs and I. Both dogs were actually excited to work with me. In addition to that my relationship with my dogs as well as their behavior at home improved greatly.

In 2009 I got my third Rottweiler Athena. I started working with John and Diann with her and worked through the foundation work they recommend. I have never had such solid behaviors on any of my dogs so early. Her recalls are much more solid than I had using other methods, her dropping of toys, objects, whatever she might have is incredible. She is my up and coming girl and I am now working towards competing with her in Schutzhund. Already I can see a huge difference in her abilities at not quite 2 years old vs Bastian at almost 8 years old. I attribute most of that to the wonderful foundation she learned early on. I firmly believe that if I had started Bastian out as a pup with John and Diann and their methods, I would not have had the difficulties I did with him. That being said, John and Diann have given me back the freedom and confidence to take on the activities that I want to with all of my dogs. I will certainly be working with Two Bears with all of my future companions.
